It’s a story with humble beginnings, dating back over four decades, to when the Group’s founder, Dr. Steve Gupta, set his sights on achieving his entrepreneurial dreams. Back then, what Dr. Gupta lacked in financial resources, he made up in boundless ambition, enthusiasm and energy.Studying and working at the same time to finance his fledgling dream, Dr. Gupta’s first foray into business was the purchase of a truck stop in Port Hope, Ontario, to which he added a hotel and various restaurants in the ensuing years. Like most visionaries, he was able to foresee the possibilities, rightly predicting the boom in highway traffic and confident that this would yield significant returns for his investment over the years. From here, there was no looking back.
